179D is a tax deduction for energy-efficient commercial buildings. 179D entitles owners or designers of eligible commercial properties to a deduction of up to $5.00 per SF when they meet specific efficiency standards in 3 systems: lighting, HVAC, and building envelope.
In a 100,000 SF building, that equates to a $500,000 tax deduction.
